Further to the inaugural success in 2005, Entertainment Expo Hong Kong returned in March 2006 for the second year as Asia's multi-media extravaganza, with three of its Founding Events celebrated their big birthdays, namely FILMART's 10th Anniversary, Hong Kong Film Awards' 25th Anniversary and Hong Kong International Film Festival's 30th Anniversary.

The other 5 Core Events that returned in 2006 as part of the Entertainment Expo Hong Kong were namely, The Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum,

The Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum, The Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Excellence Awards, The IFPI Hong Kong Top Sales Music Awards, and, Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Awards.

The Entertainment Expo Hong Kong 2006 again amalgamated film, digital entertainment, music and TV under one roof, attracting the very best of international film stars, directors and industry professionals.

The Entertainment Expo Hong Kong Gala Opening , which inaugurated the one-month mega expo and also celebrated the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong Film Awards, took place on 20 March 2006 with even more glitter, glamour and excitement to put this unique landmark of the Hong Kong entertainment industry in the international limelight.

The Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Donald Tsang, Hong Kong Entertainment Ambassador Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Peter Woo and internationally-acclaimed director Wong Kar-wai together with industry leaders officiated the opening ceremony.

The Gala was attended by more than 1,700 guests, including not just the celebrities in town and international film talents but also the past HKFA winners. Entertainment industry leaders, including super stars Jackie Chan, Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung Ka-fai, Jacky Cheung, Leo Ku, Jeff Chang, Joey Yung and famous Japanese actor Yosuke Eguchi (江口洋介), as well as heroes behind the camera such as Johnnie To, Peter Chan, Stanley Tong, Peter Kam, Tim Yip, Fruit Chan and Stanley Kwan all joined the gala.

Such a glamourous expo gained tremendous coverage in local and international media which attracted great attention from the local & overseas audiences.
